More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the pair.
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to share openly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began passing more hours together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, commenting that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a different tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A legal directive placed a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
After the killings, public figures offered divergent reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative statements that were widely condemned by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the detractors last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and implied they demonstrated a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an associate ought to have intervened when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
