A man from Australia that leaped over a barricade and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and prohibited from Singapore.
The individual, twenty-six, was given a sentence to over a week in prison for causing a public disturbance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told news outlets.
He forced his way beyond security and charged at the celebrity, who was present at the Asian premier for Wicked: For Good on November 13. Co-star Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
The individual has a record of interrupting performances and star-studded occasions, including rushing the stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in this summer.
The event caused anger in Singapore, with many accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.
The pop star has mentioned experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her concert in the English city in May 2017 took the lives of 22 people and affected hundreds.
In the legal process, the court heard he had attempted to intrude on the movie's debut on two occasions, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Event security stopped him and held him in place.
He then uploaded recordings appreciating the celebrity for allowing his presence and said he was "released."
Law enforcement detained him the following day and accused him with public nuisance, to which he confessed.
The Presiding Judge the judicial official was referenced by Channel News Asia as saying that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was mistaken to assume he would not face any penalties.
The actress has not spoken about the situation.
The co-star mentioned the incident to a media outlet, stating that she "just wanted to make sure my friend was secure."
"I think he didn't mean us danger, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I wanted to confirm that she was alright. That was my immediate response," she said.
