Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
