The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded recently, and in a stunning performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the top winner. This surprise role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the coveted Top Game award, along with accolades for Superb Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Enhancing the studio's triumph, the talented actors also received individual awards. Jennifer English was named Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Supporting Performance Award for his work as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers won seven awards during the event.
Other notable winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Outstanding Independent Game and Best PC Game. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the audience, with only 4 awards—Critics Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame, and Streamer Selection—decided by critics.
