Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
