American Armed Forces Executes Deadly Attack in Eastern Pacific, Resulting in Four Deaths

According to a high-ranking military spokesperson, the American military carried out a fatal kinetic engagement on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.

“Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a deadly attack on a craft linked to a terrorist group in open sea. Surveillance confirmed the vessel was traveling along a known drug smuggling route and was involved in illicit drug transport. All four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no American forces were harmed.”

Background and Recent Strikes

This announcement comes a day after an announcement regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. In that announcement on online platforms, the American leader accused Venezuela of using oil revenues to fund narcotics smuggling and other crimes, pledging to escalate the military presence.

Just on the previous day, US defense officials said it had conducted strikes on three boats suspected of smuggling narcotics in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Since 2 September, over 20 military engagements have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 people, most off the coast of Venezuela.

Administration Defends Tactics Amidst Pressure

The government has faced increasing demands to release video of a 2 September vessel attack. But, officials have declined to do so. The administration has supported its campaign as a success, saying it has stopped drugs from reaching US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is exceeding the limits of legal military action.

While the administration has stated the operation is about stopping drugs headed to the US, remarks from a senior aide seemed to confirm a wider geopolitical aim. In a recent interview, the chief of staff remarked the president “wants to keep on destroying vessels until the Venezuelan president surrenders or concedes.”

This suggests the series of strikes may be part of a strategy to remove Venezuela's current leadership.
