Accused Bondi Shooters Acted Alone and Did Not Preparation in the Southeast Asian Nation, Investigators Say.

The two suspected attackers who carried out the deadly incident at a Jewish event on Bondi Beach, resulting in 15 lives, appear to have acted alone, according to Australian law enforcement.

Authorities also confirmed that the 50-year-old Sajid Akram, and his 24-year-old son Naveed Akram, 24, journeyed to the Philippines on 1 November. Their travel plans involved arriving in the capital Manila before connecting on the day of arrival to Davao City. The pair returned to Sydney on 29 November.

No Evidence of Preparation During Trip

Investigators have stated the pair did not partake in any form of attack-related coaching or "planning" during their visit in the Philippines. Preliminary investigations from local authorities indicate they "hardly ventured out of" their hotel.

The attack—labeled as Australia's most severe mass shooting since 1996—has been formally designated a terrorist incident.

"We are currently analyzing the footage," the commissioner stated, noting that preliminary reviews indicate that "the two men are suspected to have operated independently."

Australian Federal Police Chief Krissy Barrett informed reporters on Tuesday that CCTV footage tracking the alleged gunmen's movements in the Philippines had been handed over to domestic investigators.

"There is no evidence to support the idea these suspects were affiliated with a larger network, or were instructed by others to execute an incident," she said.

Yet, the pair were likewise not in the Philippines on a leisure trip, she clarified. She stressed that, since the probe is still active, new evidence could surface.

The two had listed the southern city of Davao as their final destination. Their scheduled return flight to Australia was for Sydney.
